This year we are inspired by our namesake, Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. to established the “Be Love” pledge in the hopes of becoming closer to a “Beloved Community,”
This pledge and community efforts are based on the work of MLK’s daughter, Ms. Bernice King and the King Foundation, which is committed to carrying on the work and the legacy of her father, Dr. King.
All students at MLK have read
“It starts with me” a picture book written by Dr. Bernice King and Dr. Kimberly Johnson. Amora, the main character, encourages her friends to Be Love and shows them how to open their hearts and minds by allowing love to drive their words, actions and thoughts.
All of MLK students and staff have been encouraged to
take the “Be Love” pledge and to show love in everything that we do.
