Connecting with Dr. King

Thank you to all who participated in the "Connecting with Dr. King" event on Tuesday, January 14. We had a wonderful crowd of thoughtful and engaged parents and their children.

At the event:

• families made connections with other families at the potluck
• children played together in the gym with games by Knucklebones
• we discussed Dr. King's legacy through civil rights movements in Asia
• we discussed the history of the mural partially preserved outside the school with David Fichter, the artist who worked on the mural
• we discussed ways parents can make connections among families in the Ni Hao and Immersion programs at our school.

Thank you so much to the committee of parents from MLK Friends who designed and carried out this event: Eric Leslie, Denise Haynes, Donielle Buie, Katie Peeler, and Christina Lively.

This event was a wonderful way to connect around the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King!
