JK-12 Aquatics Program

Overview
CPS Aquatics is a unique, Physical Education program that provides various aquatic courses and opportunities at the War Memorial Pool. Our educational instruction focuses on water orientation and safety skills, building basic aquatic skills and stroke development.

  • CPS JK-12 Aquatics offers water safety education, swim assessment and swim lessons, swim courses/units within Elementary, Secondary and Adapted PE programs at various grade levels.
  • Our aquatics programming prepares our students with fundamental, aquatic, life skills and informs families about our unique opportunities and program offerings.
  • Communication, education and public relations within the CPS community and our partner, Cambridge Recreation that enhances the student experience within CPS.
  • Participation in our aquatic programming will ensure that students arrive at CRLS with aquatic skills that allow and prepare students to take advantage of our many community resources and to be safe in the aquatic environment.

CPS Aquatics Program Goals

  • Increase knowledge of water safety & best practices.
  • Provide an opportunity for water adjustment & swimming readiness skills.
  • Use play as a basic form of learning and provide fun & enjoyment in the water.
  • Encourage participant socialization.
  • Increase swimming skills, endurance and personal fitness levels.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in CPS Graduation Swim Requirement Skills by 12th grade
  • Build confidence and self-esteem through learning new skills, risk-taking and achievement.
  • Share emotions, build community and learn about cultural diversity among peers.
