The Graham & Parks School is committed to a child-centered, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. Teacher teams create learning expeditions that appeal to students’ natural curiosity and allow students to investigate a topic, build academic skills and habits of mind, and culminate in projects that are often shared with the larger community.
We work hard to strike the right balance of support and challenge for each child. The work that students, faculty, and staff engage in can be characterized by collaboration, perseverance, and risk-taking. Our goal is to ensure that all children feel safe and a sense of belonging and that each child thrives.
The school prides itself on being a vibrant, multicultural learning community that fosters equity, anti-racism, and inclusion. Families speak more than 30 different languages. The school is home to a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) program, which serves students whose primary language is not English. We also offer Special Start and a district-wide Special Education Program for students with Language Based Learning Disabilities (LBLD).
At Graham & Parks, teachers take an active role in building community. The school holds events that bring the community together and celebrate student learning and progress throughout the school year. The school begins each year with an international potluck, a well attended and beloved event, with food and activities from around the world. The school also holds a monthly Free Food Market and provides families support in navigating the school system.
