Do you access your CPS email on your mobile device through the Gmail App, or use the Google Calendar app to access your CPS Calendar?
Using these and other Google apps provides convenient and rich access to your CPS Google account. However, when you use them, private CPS data is being saved on your mobile device, including your CPS email, attachments, documents, and the sensitive student information these may contain. Should your device be lost or stolen, this private CPS data may be compromised.
Thus, in order to protect the privacy of the content in all of our staff accounts, Cambridge Public Schools will soon be implementing “Mobile Device Management” (MDM) technology through a security app that you must install in order to continue to access your account through these apps on your personal device. If you choose not to install this MDM on your personal device you will still be able to access your account through your device’s internet browser (e.g. Safari or Chrome).
So on Januaury 22, 2018, CPS will enable Google MDM for all CPS Staff accounts.
This new security policy will not affect any personal accounts you have on your device(s). This will only affect your CPS Google G-Suite accounts on Google Apps.
