STEP 1: Application
We begin posting positions for the forthcoming school year in February and continue as additional openings arise. A cover letter, current resume, references, and in some cases transcripts and a copy of your educator license are requested as part of your application.
TIP: Is is helpful if your cover letter speaks to why you are interested in the position you are applying for and the skills and talents you believe you will bring to the position. Applicants typically submit cover letters and resumes of 1-2 pages each, however, there is no magic number. Clear, concise writing that best presents your experience and qualifications is appreciated by all.
STEP 2: Initial Interview
All hiring in Cambridge is school/department-based and decentralized, and you will be contacted by the hiring administrator if you are selected for interview. Interviews are typically conducted by a school-based hiring committee led by the hiring administrator and inclusive of teacher and parent representatives. If you live out of state, a virtual interview may be arranged through video or phone conference.
TIP: You may choose to bring a portfolio or share links in your resume if there are particular achievements you wish to share to support your interview responses.
STEP 3: Semi-Finalists
If you are selected as a semi-finalist for a teaching position, you may be invited back to teach a demo lesson. Selected leadership positions may also involve a multi-step interview process.
STEP 4: Reference Checks & Preliminary Offer
At the conclusion of the interview process, reference checks will be conducted and the successful candidate will be contacted by the hiring administrator to extend a preliminary job offer.
STEP 5: Employment Documentation
Upon receiving a job offer, candidates must promptly produce official educational transcripts, proof of licensure/certification, and other required employment documentation.
STEP 6: Final Offer & Employee Onboarding
Final hiring recommendations are subject to approval through the Office of Human Resources which extends formal job offers and facilitates new staff member on-boarding.
HR will work with you and the hiring administrator to ensure a warm welcome and positive start in your new position. We are here to support you.
