MLK In-Person Logistics

What To Bring
Please bring two face masks (one extra), school-issued Chromebook, and water bottle.
We have additional masks and will help assist students that did not receive a Chromebook yet.

We are waiting to receive emergency water bottles (water fountains have been turned off) and we have plastic cups if you do not have a water bottle.

Third grade students will use the yellow stairwell to go directly to their classrooms. They may stop and grab breakfast before heading upstairs where their teachers will be waiting in the classrooms.

Pickup 3:55PM
Students who ride the bus: Students will wait in their classrooms until their buses are called. They will walk in a distanced line to their bus when it arrives.

Students who are picked up: Classroom teachers and/or aides will walk students to their pick-up locations:

Pickup for students in Grades JK/K will be the main courtyard (Putnam Avenue).
Pickup for students in Grades 1-3 will be the playground and field.

Families must wait 6 feet apart and wear masks. Students must wait with their teacher until their teacher makes non-verbal contact with the student’s caregiver and says they can go.

Bus
Families can still request to have their child's transportation changed by completing the "TRANSPORTATION PLAN FORM" online. The child will not be allowed to ride the new bus until it has been verified there is room on the bus.

Also, please note that parents will not be allowed to call and request their child take a different bus nor will non-eligible students be allowed to ride home with a friend for a playdate.

Breakfast

  • Breakfast will be provided each morning as “grab and go” on tables by the yellow stairwell.
  • Students will eat breakfast in their classrooms.
  • There are no breakfast forms to complete in advance.

Lunch
Lunch is different this year in that families will need to order the week ahead.
Students will eat lunch outside - weather permitting.

Please complete this form to order lunch for this week.

Please note that lunch and breakfast are free for all students through December 2020.

In-Person SOM (School Office Manager): Teresa Walker
Ms. Walker is our new in-person SOM. Ms. Walker will assist with behavioral incidents and supervision of students. Ms. Carmen Cohen will continue her functions as a SOM, but remotely with a primary focus on our remote learners.

Wednesday
Please note that all Wednesdays are “remote” whether in-person or not.
All Wednesdays follow the same schedule regardless of any holidays, except for district early release days.

Wednesday Schedule: All teachers have a “Morning Meeting” plus one hour of “live” teaching, then asynchronous work for students—except for certain specials, interventions, or services. Our Wednesday hours are 7:55AM to 1:55PM. There are also seven early district release days when we will dismiss at noon.
