Overview
The School Council is a group of parents and staff who advise the School Improvement Plan, curriculum, family engagement and other school-wide initiatives. All MLK School parents/guardians are encouraged to attend our School Council meetings. This meeting is a chance to hear how issues that affect our school are discussed and decided upon, it’s also a great opportunity to get directly involved in your child’s school community.
What is our Purpose
The school council shall meet regularly with the Principal of the school and shall assist in the identification of the educational needs of the students attending the school, in the review of the annual school budget, and in the formulation of a school improvement plan. Individual educational needs of your child should be addressed with your child’s teacher.
Our school is one of many that is part of a school district. As such, we do not have complete autonomy. Larger curriculum or district policies should be addressed by the specific district department. We are generally not a voting body and we do not create school policy. Official meeting notices, agendas, and minutes are posted below (orange button).
