Message from Gerald Yung: May 3, 2018

Dear Families,

I hope that you are able to enjoy the warm weather! Here are a few upcoming events in the weeks ahead.

MCAS: Final Round
Students in grades 3-5 will finish state testing (MCAS) over the next two weeks. Please encourage them to do their very best! All students put forth an excellent effort for last month's English Language Arts tests.

Tuesday, May 8: Grade 4 and Grade 5 Math
Thursday, May 10: Grade 4 and Grade 5 Math
Tuesday, May 15: Grade 3 Math, Grade 5 Science
Thursday, May 17: Grade 3 Math, Grade 5 Science

Teacher Appreciation Week: Next Week
Teacher/Staff Appreciation is coming up - May 7th-11th. This is a special week for parents to show their appreciation. Thank you in advance!

From Parent Pamela Mindell:

We will have a luncheon for the teachers and staff on Wednesday, May 9th. Please sign up online to bring in food for the luncheon. Or you can email me with what you are able to bring, and I can add you to the signup sheet. Info sheet is also attached (and was sent home 2 weeks ago in backpacks).

Again, many teachers are being careful this year and have requested more healthy options (esp. with desserts). Thank you for respecting this request!

Art Show
Please join us on Friday, May 18th from 5-7PM for our Art Show in our hallways (similar to a gallery show). We will celebrate art from all our classes and there will be snacks and hidden “awesome pencils”!

Talent Show
Talent Show tryouts are Thursday, May 10th after school in Ms. Carpenter's room. Students must have a signed permission slip. The talent show is Friday, June 1st at 4:30PM.

Family Day of Mindfulness
The city’s Family Day of Mindfulness is on Saturday May 12th. Our Mindfulness Teacher, Laura Indigo will be there, as well as several other area youth mindfulness teachers. The same program will be offered twice, so families can register for either the morning or the afternoon session. Registration is required by emailing or calling 617.349.3003. Children are welcome!

Yours truly,

Gerald Yung, Principal
