Message from Principal Yung: June 14, 2017

Dear Families,

I hope you are coping with the heat and staying cool! A quick, but very sincere, thank you to people who helped with our Talent Show, Spring Concert, and 5th grade Nature’s Classroom trip. We have a very busy next couple of days. Thank you for turning in the permission slips for the below events.

Wednesday: Field Day, June 14
Students will walk to Hoyt Field. Students should come to school with cool clothing, sneakers (not sandals), a water bottle and sunscreen already applied. There will be three water stations this year so students can refill a water bottle but there will also be paper cups, as usual.

Below is a list of some of the stations/activities:

  • Water balloon toss
  • Parachute
  • Bubbles (new this year!)
  • Relay races
  • Short sprint
  • Distance throw (football, frisbee)
  • Large group games
  • Toss/target games

Thursday, June 15: Drumlin Farms Wildlife Sanctuary, Lincoln, MA
All students in grades JK to 1st will attend this special, free, field trip to Drumlin Farms. Students will participate in the Farm and Pond Community Program. Buses will leave our school at 9AM and Drumlin Farms at 2PM. Students should come to school with cool clothing, sneakers (not sandals), a water bottle and sunscreen already applied.

Friday, June 16: Portfolio Day
Students in all grades are showcasing their portfolio collection of works this past year (8 - 9:30AM). Kindergarten classes also have a “sing along” in our rooftop garden.

Tuesday, June 20: New England Aquarium, Boston, MA
All students in grades 2 to 5 will attend this special, free, field trip to the New England Aquarium. In addition to exploring all that the aquarium has to offer, students will also watch a new IMAX “Amazon Adventure 3D.” Buses will leave our school at 9AM and the Aquarium at 2PM. Students should come to school with cool clothing, sneakers (not sandals), and a water bottle.

Thursday, June 22: Last Day of School
The fifth grade Moving Up Assembly will be held from 8 - 9AM in our auditorium. Families are welcome to join us.

If you are moving this summer, please let us know as soon as possible. Our school has an active waitlist and your consideration will help our future families and our school with preparations. Also, please update any changes to your address as report cards will be sent home starting the week of June 26th.

Yours truly,

Gerald Yung, Principal
