Who’s Who at The King School: Jack Reardon

Who’s Who at The King School: Jack Reardon

ReardonJack Reardon started his teaching career in 1976 at the, no longer open, Harrington School in Cambridge. He has been teaching Physical Education at The King School for 32 years.  Mr. Reardon grew up in an athletic family. His father was a health teacher and coach at Cambridge Latin High School. Young Jack would often accompany his father to work and this sparked his interest in sports and physical education.

Mr. Reardon has seen a lot of change over his years in The Cambridge Public Schools. However, the biggest and most challenging for him has been the way that technology has made its way into every aspect of the job. He describes himself as someone who “has had no exposure to technology”. He has had to adjust and teach himself to use the technology for everything from lesson planning to student assessments. Another change related to technology is the amount of sitting students do at home. Mr. Reardon’s goal for his students is for them to develop a lifelong love for being active. He tries to provide students as many opportunities as he can for physical activities and his hope is that families will get outside and move as much as they can.
