Dear Families,
I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful to be a part of the King School and all the caring adults that make our school so special.
Here are just a few, simple, thanks in honor of our upcoming holiday:
- To our families and teachers for Parent Conferences
It was great to hear from families and teachers the shared value of our Parent Conferences. These positive conversations strengthened our relationships and helped to inform our next steps.
- To our Friday Backpack volunteers
Each Friday, parent volunteers bring food into our cafeteria where they assemble weekend bags to our most needy families. This commitment and care for our families inspires all of us to take care of each other and to think of others in our community.
- To our Book Fair volunteers
We had the best book fair in recent memory with all proceeds going to MLK Friends and, in turn, our students. Our volunteers arrived early, stayed late, and dedicated multiple days to helping with this huge task.
- To our Chinese teachers for their Family Workshop
Our team of Chinese teachers are increasing their outreach to families. They recently hosted a morning event to showcase fun student activities. This event brought together Ni Hao and Chinese Immersion students and families for an enjoyable morning of community building.
- To our English teachers for Character Morning
Today’s celebration of our favorite literacy characters was a terrific event that mixed costumes with our love of reading and writing. Thank you to our families for such a great turnout!
It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of such a supportive and caring community. I hope that you have the opportunity in the next few days to thank someone special in your life. Have a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving!
Yours truly,
Gerald Yung
