Award-winning journalist and author, David Jiménez stopped by at the King School en route to taking on his new role as the editor-in-chief of
El Mundo, one of Spain's leading newspapers. Fourth graders were treated to exciting stories of what it takes to be a journalist on the front lines and what the writing process is to bring stories from the far corners of the world onto the page. Students were riveted by his tales of children who traditionally have not had a voice. In his book,
Children of the Monsoon, Jiménez documents the stories of children he encountered as a correspondent in Asia whom he found in kickboxing gyms in Thailand, refuse dumps in the Philippines and AIDS-afflicted corners of Cambodia.
