Co-Chair Election: Diane Johnson was elected (4-1)
Discussion of change in format: participation during presentations for elected members; 10 minutes allocated for public comments at the conclusion
ELA Presentation: Coach Kelly Petitt
- 79% meet or exceeds expectation/optimist
- ELA has been undergoing curriculum review cycle with new curricula across the district (every student in any school, reading same books, experiencing same curricula)
- Close Reading: Read a high level text, high interest, meaningful: read through text multiple times to develop reading skills;
- Video of Grade 3 Class: 3rd Grade Rochester, NY class
- Reviewed and 5th grade ‘Article 23 UDHR’
Comments:
- Changes to format (ratio of staff/parent (M/L), babysitting, times, audio recording)
- Close reading: goal, executive function, ADD, teacher training
- Goal of school council;
- Should we survey parents about school council
