Who’s Who at the King

In September of 2014, a new school nurse joined the community at the King School. Ife Rollins comes to the King from Prospect Hill Academy where she was the nurse for middle and high school age students.

Nurse RollinsNurse Rollins started out in medicine with the goal of becoming a midwife. In order to achieve this goal, one must first earn a degree in nursing. While working on her nursing degree Nurse Rollins realized how broad of a field nursing actually is and public/community-based nursing ended up being a good fit for her.

Since coming to work at MLK, Nurse Rollins has been impressed with the Chinese language programs that exist at the school. She is also the Nurse for the High School Extension program located on the second floor. She considers being able to work with a wide age and developmental range a plus.

Nurse Rollins has two goals for the King School. The first one is that all parents will turn in their school physical/immunization forms in September of every year and the second is to help raise awareness in the community about food allergies. She hopes that as a community we will find creative ways to celebrate special occasions and move away from celebrating with food.

Nurse Rollins is also looking forward to getting into classrooms and doing some direct teaching of health and safety.
