Cheryl Mason is often the first face that greets people as they come through the doors at the King school. She opens the door, answers the phone, deciphers jumbled questions, comforts the needy and points folks in the right direction, all done with a smile. Cheryl has been there for all the ups and downs over the years of her tenure at the King and has her finger on the pulse of the school.
“I’ve been the clerk at the King for the past 21 years. Before that, I worked as a temp at the Thorndike St office in the school Committee offices. An opening came up at the school and I was encouraged to apply by a co-worker and I have been here ever since. Gerald and Carmen make the 6th administration that I have worked with.
The King School has always attracted families from all around the world. They bring their language and their culture with them and I enjoy being exposed to it. They are often here temporarily and they have chosen to spend their time while they are in this country with us. I think that is a special thing.
Everyday is a different experience and I love the kids. Even though I don’t have kids of my own, I really enjoy being with the students everyday.”
