From the Principal: April 20, 2016

Dear Families,

It was great to see so many families for our Parent Conferences last Wednesday. I hope that you found these conferences to be a meaningful opportunity to learn about your child’s progress and collaborate on any goals for the rest of the year. Our students continue to make significant progress this year and this is, no doubt, attributable to our strong relationships.

Our new playground should be open any day now and it looks fantastic! I recently had the opportunity to invite teachers on the playground with contractors for a sneak peek, and the feedback was tremendously positive. Our teachers were thrilled with some of the deceptively engaging smaller structures, found it to be peaceful on the numerous ropes courses, and thrilling down our tallest slide. I believe that students will find our new playground to have a little of something for everyone.

I would also like to encourage families to use our playground after school. There will be benches and picnic tables for families to sit and enjoy a snack. At certain times of the year, there will even be a water play structure. I hope that families view our playground as a fantastic opportunity to connect with each other in a safe, fun, shared space.

I would like to recognize all the students that participated in our Read Across America Challenge. It was awesome to see students reading as they entered the school for breakfast, during lunch, and at various times throughout the day. This was an amazing effort, and we are proud of our students. Students read enough pages to the moon! I would like to thank Ms. Thompson and Ms. Chu for organizing this event. The class that read the most was 5th grade, and I was happy to paint my face green as part of the challenge. Please encourage all students to continue reading. It’s truly the best academic exercise and a great source of enjoyment!
