Posted on 03/07/2016
RachelRachel Bailey and she is a recent graduate of Lesley College’s master’s program and is in her second year of teaching art at the King School. Since coming to the King, Rachel has been impressed by the sense of community that exists at the school. “All the teachers are hard working and want their students to succeed and want to collaborate. I don’t feel isolated.” Rachel feels that she is accepted as she is. All of her differences are accepted and she accepts those of others. This practice includes her students as well. “I love my students, I love the diversity of Cambridge. I learn something everyday about celebrating and cultures. I am trusted here and
I feel appreciated”

Rachel’s goal is to eventually integrate math and other curriculum content into her into art lessons. She has also created a curriculum around identity. "Kids connect better when their interests are allowed to be part of the work. I want kids to have a voice and not feel overwhelmed
by my lessons. I want them to enjoy the arts.”
