Dear Families,

I hope you and your family are well. I would like to thank Mr. Piper and the MLK Assembly Committee for their impressive performance at our January 15th MLK assembly. Students really captured the energy and joy of being together, living in peace, and celebrating the Civil Rights movement. It was very special to have our first performance in the new auditorium commemorate our school’s namesake and vision.

Next week is our special Chinese New Year Assembly. We are having a students-only performance on Wednesday, complete with a lion dance and special luncheon. All families and guests are invited to a school performance on Friday, February 12th, at 8:30AM in our auditorium. Students will perform the exact same routines as the Wednesday performance, but it will be performed only for families. This change will accommodate our growing student population while providing access and opportunity for families to celebrate the Year of the Monkey with the school. Students and teachers have been working very hard for this assembly. We hope to see you on Friday!
Additional notes:

  • We recently concluded our Response-to-Intervention meetings. These meetings focus on reviewing the progress of every child towards grade-level standards.

  • Report cards will be sent home next week. Please do not hesitate to contact your teacher regarding any questions you may have. Parent conferences will be held on Wednesday, April 13th.

  • Thank you to our Friends of MLK for their hard work this year. I have been so impressed and appreciative of their dedication and support of our school through fundraising, planning events, and recruitment. They meet the first Wednesday of each month in our large conference room on the first floor. All families are welcome to attend.
