Message from Gerald Yung: November 19, 2015

Dear Families,

I recently had the opportunity to visit our new school building at 100 Putnam Avenue and it looks fantastic! Our students and teachers are going to love the additional space, student-friendly design, green features, and first-class amenities. In particular, I look forward to our clusters (JK/K, 1-2, 3-5) having their own floor and being able to build an even smaller grade-level community. When we move on December 21st, it will be a very exciting time for our school and the city of Cambridge!

LiteracyOur third- to fifth-grade classroom teachers had the pleasure to attend the Literacy for All conference in Providence, Rhode Island this past Monday and Tuesday. The team learned additional literacy strategies and interventions through this annual conference featuring more than 100 workshops. This is a great opportunity for our teachers to bond in a shared learning experience that will benefit our students.

Thank you for attending our November Parent Conferences. We had an excellent turnout of families. Please let us know if you have any concerns and how we can best support your child. We continually review our student data and seek your feedback as a partner in your child’s education. You should have also received your child’s progress report during the meeting.

Finally, please note that this Friday morning is Character Day and we have an early release time of 11:55AM next Wednesday, November 25th for the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope that you and your family have a restful break!

Yours truly,

Gerald Yung
