Travel Safely on Tuesday

Travel Safely on Tuesday
Posted on 09/01/2017
Families and community members are reminded to please help keep students safe by remembering the following travel safety tips:

Walking or biking to school? Check out our walking maps for students in grades JK-8 and their families.

Please pay special attention to new separated bike lanes along Cambridge Street – near the high school. Drivers may not pull into the bike lane to drop students off. Find a safer place to stop, possibly on a side street. Better to walk one block and keep everyone safe. Traffic can be chaotic in front of school buildings. Rather than scrambling to drop your student off in front of school, consider parking 1 block away and walking them calmly – and safely – to the door.

Remember: the new speed limit in Cambridge is 25 MPH. Students will be traveling to school from all over the city – some of them walking alone for the first time this year. The speed limit in School Zones is 20 MPH. Drivers and cyclists must yield to buses when the red stop sign is flashing. We hope these reminders are helpful. See you next week!
