Cambridgeport Represented In A National Forum

cport_forum_content.jpgThis past week Katie Gribben, Cambridgeport’s 7/8 ELA teacher, was invited to DC to meet with federal policy staff working on education legislation. Katie also attended the Town Hall with Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, on February 15th.

Duncan articulated his vision for the next phase of education initiatives and responded to questions from a small group of invited teachers. Katie was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and quoted in an article about the event. Katie was invited to DC as part of her work as a Teach Plus Teaching Policy Fellow. Katie has been a Policy Fellow since September and will continue this fellowship through the next school year.

Teach Plus is a national non-profit dedicated to improving outcomes for urban students, and their Policy Fellowship is a highly selective program for “second stage” (years 3-10) teachers. As a Fellow, Katie works on policy issues at the local, state and national level. We are proud to have Cambridgeport represented in a national forum.
