Recent events at the national level have contributed to an atmosphere of uncertainty and generated a number of questions for many in our community – in particular, for our immigrant families and staff. I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to educating, supporting and welcoming all students and families in Cambridge Public Schools.

Under federal, state, and local law, all students are guaranteed equal access to school regardless of their or their families’ immigration status. Our city has a longstanding tradition of going above and beyond the requirements of the law to embrace newcomers to our country and community. In CPS, we are committed to affirming the dignity and rights of our students, staff and families.

If you or your family has any questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to one of the departments or resources listed below.

Please know that whether your family has lived in Cambridge for generations, or you are newly arrived in the United States: You are valued members of our community in CPS.

Kenneth Salim, Superintendent
Cambridge Public Schools
